Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue | Daniel and his mother move from New Jersey to California. He has a great new job, but Daniel quickly realizes that a dark-haired Italian boy with a Jersey accent doesn’t fit into the yellow surfing crowd. Daniel manages to talk himself into a few fights, but eventually several members of the same karate school hear. When Daniel disappears from the beat, he sees Miyagi, an old gardener jumping into battle and rescuing him by fighting half a dozen young people. Miyagi and Daniel soon find the real motivation behind the boys ’violent attitude in the form of their karate teacher. Miyagi promises to teach karate to Daniel and keep fighting in the all-valley tournament for a few months. When the training begins, Daniel doesn’t understand what is being shown to him. Miyagi seems to be more interested in Daniel painting fences and wax cars than teaching him karate.
