The free multimedia API from MicrosoftDirectX is a free collection of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) for programming and audio graphics. In this way, developers, especially game developers, can easily create games with functions under Windows. Most users cannot see DirectX right away – it only runs when needed without notifying you. Interacting with it is more complicated and requires programming tools to control sound and graphics (function () {(‘review-app-desktop-page’);}); DirectX is a technical tool that game developers can use to interact with sound and graphics cards. Although it can be installed on any computer, most users don’t need it. It works when you play games created with DirectX. You only need to know better if you want to program it yourself. What does DirectX use? DirectX is a series of Windows interfaces. Developer program for the DirectX API that allows your programs – often games – to interact properly with sound and graphics cards. Instead, audio and video card manufacturers recognize DirectX so they know what to do when creating a program with DirectX access. Do you already have DirectX? Since DirectX does not have the user interface like other applications (for example, it does not appear in your app list), you need to be a little more technical to determine if it is already installed on you. To check, do the following: Click Start, click Run type dxdiag, and then click OK. On the System tab, write down the DirectX version that appears in the line in the DirectX version. Check the version information for each DirectX on the various tabs. File when you’re done. Check the version of the file and click Quit DirectX Software. If you find that DirectX is not installed on your computer (or an older version), you must download DirectX again in order to use it. Downloading is easy and as you expect – you download and run .exe as usual. Installation is slow, which can be a bit frustrating and – be careful – applications are trying to install Bing during installation. How do I open a DirectX control panel? Since DirectX is not a normal program, you cannot open it normally. Instead, press the start button and type dxdiag in the field. Your computer asks if you want to run. Open Windows is a very traditional Windows interface. All information is just information – lots of details about your system, display settings, rendering and driver functions, audio information and current input devices. You are not interacting with this information – there is an error window and if your programming is incorrect, an error is shown here. You go back and fix it and the error goes away. Who needs DirectX? There are two situations where you may need DirectX. When you play a game on your computer that requires DirectX. You probably already have it. If you’re programming something that requires access to audio and graphics cards, you may need italso DirectX.
Note that DirectX is not the only tool of its kind. There are other APIs that interact with graphics cards, and mostly more modern ones. However, if you play or develop a particular game or machine (possibly older), you may need the most technical tools. In many cases, DirectX was a solid technology year and still strong. Graphics and audio technology works well (which is why it is still relevant when it is very old), and the user interface is very useful, even if it is very old-fashioned. Most of us will never see it – if you don’t program it, you don’t have to open it because it runs in the background without you realizing it. DirectX is not the type of software you want or don’t want. If you need it, you have to install it and it’s a painless experience. Recent changes The latest version of DirectX improves Windows 10 compatibility and offers support for shadow variations (VRS). Other newer versions include DirectX ray tracing support, depth limit testing and programmable MSAA.
